Camping in Big Sur

Big Sur has a variety of public and private campgrounds. One of most popular due to its amenities is Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and Lodge.

The campground has 189 RV and tent sites and most are situated on or near the Big Sur River. There is a Campfire Center that offers evening programs on the weekends during peak season. Reservations can be made six months in advance.

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park – Big Sur Lodge

Kirk Creek Campground is located on a bluff on the west side of Highway 1. Open year round, Kirk Creek is an oceanside paradise, with each site overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Known for its spectacular sunsets, this campsite is considered one of the best.

The campground offers sites for tent and RV camping. Utility hookups are not available and parking surfaces within the campground are gravel and grass. Each site is equipped with a table and campfire ring with a grill. Vault toilets are provided throughout the campground. Please note that water is not available at this campsite.

Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.

Plaskett Creek Campground is located about 40 miles north of Cambria and just south of Sand Dollar Beach. Sites are spacious and all roads are paved. sites accommodate RVs and Tents. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.

Private Campgrounds along Big Sur
